The meeting point and start of the rally is St Omer in France, just a few miles south of Calais. Teams will berequired to meet here after making the journey across or under theEnglish Channel.
First stop after leaving St Omer is Koblenz inGermany. With an optional stop off at the Nurburgring. It is virtuallyall motorway driving, travelling through Belgium and Netherlands onroute.
Koblenz is situated in the picturesque landscape of the Rhine and Mosel and issurrounded by 4 low mountain ranges. It is one of Germany’s majortourist centres.
From Koblenz, we travel down the Rhine gorgetowards Bingen, to experience the finest scenery along the whole of theRhine. Along this stretch you will find there are more castles thananywhere else in the world. We then leave the Rhine and head off to ournext stop, St Gallen in Switzerland situated halfway between LakeConstance and the Appenzell Alps.
From St Gallen we travel along mountain passes,through stunning scenery, to reach the ‘Queen of the Dolomites’ Cortinad’Ampezzo in Italy. This foremost of resorts has a real internationalatmosphere and is renowned for its fashionable shops and excellentrestaurants.
We then move on again, the route taking us through a beautiful Alpinevalley, skirting the Triglav National Park in Slovenia onto our stay inBled, the famous Lake Bled formed from a Glacier and is ovelooked bythe iconic Bled Castle.
The next stop is Brno the second largest city inCzech Republic. The city is situated at the confluence of the Svitavaand Svratka rivers and the area is overlooked by the commanding CastleSpilberk.
The final day. We now head off through the Tatra Mountains to Krakow,Poland’s most visited tourist destination. As a city, it has one of themost wonderfully preserved old-town complexes in Europe.
It is now time to get rid of the cars and havesome fun. There’s an excellent nightlife scene and there are also theattractions of Auschwitz and the salt mines of Wieliczka not too faraway from Krakow.Apologies to motoscape for stealing their route description, I couldn’t be bothered to write my own.More details available on the motoscape website.
